Monitor VS Monitor *Pick One*

I'm looking for a gaming monitor.

24" 144hz Curved G-Sync - https://www.mwave.com.au/product/acer-predator-xb241h-24-144hz-gsync-gaming-monitor-ab88339

27" 144hz Curved - https://www.mwave.com.au/product/msi-optix-mag27c-27-fhd-144hz-freesync-curved-gaming-monitor-ac11929

These two monitors fit my budget and would suit me long term, they also have a $20 differentiation which is not bad at all.

The curved 24" monitor has 144hz, G-Sync and it can be overclocked to 180hz but to enable the 180hz the screen resolution will be slightly downgraded.

The 27" monitor has 144hz, is also curved, but has freesync -- I have a GTX 1060 6GB though.

I am quite indecisive regarding these two monitors so what's your opinion?

Basically, 27" vs 24" w/ G-Sync

GPU: MSI GTX 1060 6GB GAMING X

the 1060 is not suited to 144hz. you're better off getting a new GPU first

That depends on the games. Elite Dangerous and CS:GO would both run at 144+fps on a 10606GB depending on settings.

With that aside, I would definitely go with a 27". I have a 24" as a secondary monitor and it would be really small as a primary for gaming.

I just bought the Acer Predator XB241H and I haven't used it yet because I'm waiting on my case to finish building my PC, but from the research I've done on it, it seems like an excellent choice and the colours are supposedly quite good for a TN panel. Since you have a 1060 6GB, on most games you won't be hitting 144hz and that's where G-Sync will become particularly helpful (in the 60-100 range where screen tearing is most prominent) however even if you're hitting 144hz on a game, cap the FPS at 142 and G-Sync will be active giving you an even smoother, tear free 144Hz experience. I paid $159 more than my other option which was the Viewsonic XG2401 just for the G-Sync. I will mention that I got it on sale for $419 though and if it wasn't on sale I probably wouldn't have gone with it because of my budget, not saying you shouldn't pay retail for it though. I wish I could tell you about it having first hand experience but I haven't used it yet. 27" curved is more important to you than G-Sync then go with that but I wouldn't want a 27" curved 1080p monitor because of the low pixel density. Also, the MSI Optix is a VA panel meaning you will get better looking, less 'washed out' colours but it has around a 5ms pixel response time which may introduce motion blur and ghosting depending on how sensitive you are to those things.

He's fine with the 1060. It's only 1080p.

Sure he won't be able to max out AAA games and get 144fps+, but it shouldn't be too hard on low-med settings.

I have a 24" 144hz and 27" 60hz. I use the 24 as a primary monitor since the 27" at 1080p lets me see too many pixels, it really depends how far you sit from the monitor but a normal desk distance imho the 24" is better. Plus G-Sync should be an awesome experience.

Acer because 4 important things:

1: I had seen that acer and is ok (180hz oced you dont lose screen res you lose ulmb )
2: Gsync is like good drink/tobacco (try a month and try to leave without xD )
3: I wouldnt never never never never recommend a msi panel... never never...never!>
4: PPI !!!! all sums to pixel density ! 27 inches full hd is like playing on a tv, if 27 inches go 1440p, and rather 24inches gsync than 1440p 27 with not gsync,

Case: Corsair 760T  |  Psu: Evga  650w p2 | Cpu-Cooler : Noctua Nh-d15 | Cpu : 8600k  | Gpu: Gygabyte 1070 g1 | Ram: 2x8gb Gskill Trident-Z 3000mhz |  Mobo : Aorus GA-Z370 Gaming K3 | Storage : Ocz 120gb sata ssd , sandisk 480gb ssd , wd 1gb hdd | Keyboard : Corsair k95 rgb plat. | Mouse : Razer deathadder elite | Monitor: Dell s2417DG (1440p 165hz gsync) & a crappy hp 24' ips 1080p | Audio: Schiit stack + Akg k712pro + Blue yeti.

There's lots of GPU mining going on so the 1070 would be $250 AUD more than the 1060 6gb.

Not only this, but the 1060 is perfect for my typical games & I'm pretty happy with it.
