He literally said in the first post "Best bang for the buck". 85$ for an old, HUGE air cooler isn't very like that.

Either you can help OP, or you can attempt to have an e-penis battle. Your choice

honestly, a decent CPU cooler purchase now will last a long time.

I just bought an NH-D14 from notcua and they have mounting hardware for AM2 and up on the AMD side, TR4 for threadripper, Socket 20xx on intel, and any 115x socket.

literally anything in the last 10 years.

i bought a second cooler from them, different style.. NH-L12 i think.  same deal.

its well worth spending the extra $30 now, not to have to spend it again for a long time.

in comparison, the hyper 212 knockoff i bought for my server, only has AM4 mounting gear, it wont work with anything else.

should I buy a cpu cooler from ebay? Like I wouldnt buy a hdd or ssd , but cooler?

It's another option, as long as the seller has the brackets for Intel sockets if it needs it.

. gonna search for some. if I find a noctua ill maybe buy it? Idk

im just saying that you can go super cheap.... but its not always the best policy.  sure noctua has terrible color fans, and yes if you want something of another color youll have to bring your own.  but those shit ugly fans are some of the best quality you will be able to find.

you also have the option to paint whatever color you want.

How about something like https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835709011? It's black and white, matches your case.

EDIT: I also found https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835709018

They're overkill for a locked cpu like the 8400.

The Gammaxx 400 mentioned above would be more appropriate.

If it's within OP's price and OP can use it in their case, I don't see why this matters.
