New Mobo and CPU

TamatiNZ

So after talking with another member of the forum, he suggested this motherboard and cpu. My current build uses an intel i5 6500 @ 3.2ghz with a Gigabyte B150M-D3h-CF mobo. Will this be a worthwhile upgrade? Are there any better motherboard or CPU upgrades I can make within the $500 budget I have set? I'll mainly be using the PC for games like League of Legends, World of Warcraft, and RPGs/Shooters similar to Fallout and Farcry.

Your i5 6500 is already fine for 60hz gaming there's no real need to replace it

What's your current GPU?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

I recommend the Intel i5-8600K

This will last you a while and thanks to Overclocking definitely worth the price

Not needed, an i7 8700 would be better anyways

9th gen CPUs from intel are coming soon enough, his CPU will be fine until then, or possible even until Ryzen 3000 early next year.

Then ya just save your money for 9th gen intel or get more cores with Ryzen

Like if you're going to upgrade from an already modern platform go big or just keep saving.

I was just thinking, my current cpu is getting pretty old so maybe an upgrade was in order

that CPU should be perfectly fine for 60hz gaming.

If it's not able to do that, then upgrade to an R5 2600 for the best value currently, or an i7 8700 if you need an extra 15-20 max potential fps in the average AAA game.
