Resetting an Android phone=deactivating it?

I've been having major performance issues with my S5 Mini lately.  Up until yesterday, I've never had an issue with it.  It opened and ran apps like it should and I never had a problem.  Now, it's slow, sluggish, and freezes when I open an app or try to make it do anything other than scroll through the apps on my phone.  I've cleared cache and data from just about everything, and I've even deleted a few apps I thought were the problem.  My next step is just factory resetting, and I know this may seem obvious or juvenile, but does factory resetting a smartphone deactivate it?  With the SIM card still in it? Thank you!

No, the SIM card will still work with the phone, and you shouldn't need to reactivate it.

If you do a factory reset, the SIM card will be fine but everything on the main drive and or SD card will be deleted. You will need to have the username and password of the last google account that was on the device if the android version is 5+.
