CM ml240l

Go to solution Solved by Quadriplegic,

60C at idle on stock settings?

That's too much, even for bad coolers.

So I just upgraded my rig to a Ryzen 2700 (non X) and caught a CoolerMaster ml240l on sale for $40 inside a Be Quiet! Dark Base Pro 900 Rev. 1. I've tried the fans in an intake and exhaust configuration. The Ryzen is set to all stock clocks and settings, running the AIO fans at 100% results in a 59-60C idle, Prime 95 or gaming brings it up to 85C quickly then climbs to 90C. I might as well have kept the stock cooler on at this rate!

So what I'm asking is am I doing something wrong? I don't have a lot of options for mounting the AIO due to its compact size and short hoses but I'm open to ideas of why temps are so damn high!?

thanks in advance to anyone who responds.

yes, double checked all the mounting hardware for the pump. It is secure. Pump is connected to the pump header on the motherboard as per the motherboard manual description so should be good there. As for pump rpm read out, what would be the best way to check that? I did hear the pump on the very first boot up.

Anything that measures RPM's.

Check what the header is labeled for the pump on the motherboard than look for it in the software you are using.

It is typically CPU_OPT, but I can see from your screen shot that that is running @ 2200 RPM's

yeah so the pump is plugged into CPU_OPT and thats what the screen shot is showing, the software shows CPU at 0RPMs which should be the label for the CPU Fan, and where I have the AIO fans plugged in.

So you're saying the temps are normal? because they seem unacceptable to me. If I'm not missing something obvious then I'll just spring for something higher quality.

79C on OCCT medium data on a Ryzen 5 1600 at 3.75GhZ/1.29v so you make up your mind.

Yeah that was my fear. 60C seems way way too high for idle at desktop. I think I'm gonna put the Ryzen stock cooler on and return the CoolerMaster. I thought it was a nice low price for a 240mm AIO but learned the hard way this time.

did u try plug the AIO fan cable direct to CPU pins on your motherboard, and conect the Pump to an alternative sys fan on motherboard?

other - verify radiator fans positions. Mines are pushing hot from case air through radiator .

Despite i have 4 1200 rpm fans pulling fresh air to the interior of case, having an i8700k at 4.8 ghz reaching a max of 65°C on Aida, Prima and Intel test stress cpu software (can not remember name now)

sry about my english. it is not my first language

I only tried the original set up for pump and fan cables which was on the motherboard near the socket. The fans hit max speed no issues and I configured them to push through the radiator and out of the case and to pull into the case and through the radiator. Neither configuration really changed thermals. I ended up taking the hit and returning the AIO for $25 of the $45 I paid for it. I will never purchase another Coolermaster product again in my life. Actually looking at the Corsair H115i V2 or H115i Pro as a replacement.
