I am starting fall semester soon.

 

I currently have a mid-2015 15" MBP i7 2.2Ghz 16GB ram and 512GB SSD.

I am wanting to sell both and try something different.

 

I want to get a 13" laptop with decent specs:

Quad core 8th gen

16gb of ram (8gb if upgradable)

512gb SSD (smaller if more can be added)

Thunderbolt 3 is a must.

Graphics not much of an issue.

 

I will get an external graphics enclosure and run it docked when at home.

 

Looking for something clean and non gamer looking laptop.

 

Would like to keep it under $1200.

 

The lower the better.

I think the Dell XPS 13 is the best option but it might come to around 1300$ or more. See if you can find it in stores for less than that.

If I'm not mistaken XPS 13 with 16GB RAM+512GB SSD is out of your budget. Can consider Lenovo Yoga 730 13 or Ideapad 720s 13 for cheap TB3 options.
