Should work fine.

 

You can decode h265 with hardware on it, then encode it to h264 for clients.

 

according to plex you should be able to get 2-3 streams https://support.plex.tv/articles/221099648-limitations-when-running-plex-media-server-on-nvidia-shield/

i was thinking of using a shield tv for my nas server with Plex. But, i was wondering if its capable if 1080p h.265 encoding. I know the gpu is great, but what about the cpu? is it enough?

 

almost all synology nas stations are $200+ and dont really do much. If the shield tv is enough, it will save me quite a bit of money
