Hello guys, I was wondering if my PSU 520 Watts Seasonic M12-II Evo is enough to handle the Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming, beacuse i visited their site and i saw this

"Recommended system power supply requirement: 550W(with one 6-pin and one 8-pin external power connectors)" its weird

It's almost certainly more than enough for it. More often than not the power requirement on the site is always a good bit more than what is actually needed because they don't know if you're running some dual core Celeron or a monster power whore HEDT chip.

Now these measurements would increase with CPU OCing but generally

thing look good.

"Measured power consumption GTX 970

System in IDLE = 120 Watts
System Wattage with GPU in FULL Stress = 280 Watts
Difference (GPU load) = 160 Watts
Add average IDLE wattage ~10 Watts
Subjective obtained GPU power consumption = ~ 170 Watts
Mind you, the system wattage is measured at the wall socket side and there are other variables like PSU power efficiency. So this is an estimated value, albeit a very good one. "

I don't get over 430W on my main system with a GTX 980 and i7 6700k.

thanks! i thought i need to buy another PSU lol

NVIDIA recommends a minimum of 500W, higher than that is more than enough.

I've been wondering that as well, maybe it's for a headroom. I'm running GTX 970 (MSI) on a 500W PSU.

So long as you're not running a 7980XE at retard-speed, I'm pretty confident in saying that you're golden.
