Monitor not Connecting

I was building my first pc, when it was all set and done I tried to connect it to the monitor, and the monitor said it has no signal. I checked if everything in the pc is working, and it seems like everything is on, I don’t know if it’s a problem with the ram or cpu, since I don’t know how to check if those are on/working. I would just like to know what should I try to do to resolve the problem. Also the monitor connects through HDMI.

Are you connecting the monitor to the motherboard or GPU?
