So i 'm close to finishing my build im waiting on my power supply,

i'm worries i have shocked my board while building, not me but my dad.

I've wanted to tell me dad multiply times to not touch this and that, but is disrespectful.

What are the chance that board of the day and age may be killed by esd?

Well, according to the ever questionable accuracy of Wikipedia if you're able to see the ark then it's approximately 40kV per centimeter. As to the damage it depends on what rails he hit. Although newer hardware has become a bit more resilient to shorts and the like there's still a lot of components that won't like this so it can't really be said what the likelihood of it being OK is without knowing exactly what was hit. The system may boot but some components could be dead.

 

What I would do is just make him pay for the replacement if its dead. This is always a good lesson for people who don't listen.

It depends on what he touches, but generally ESD is very rare unless you're intentionally trying to introduce it.

 

Since your dad is not budging, wait for the build to be complete, and see if it works.

If it doesn't, at least you can say "I told you so".

My did thinks he knows around a screwdriver and he wouldn't let his ego go.

So he'd would except that.
