Best Gaming Laptop under $2500

Hello, I am planning on buying a laptop which will be mainly used for machine learning and I really require a powerful computer and at the same time portability. As I believe that there are no specific computers for this type of job I am looking for gaming laptops as they mostly require what I need.

What would be the best laptop that I can get for my budget? I would go for 15' but any recommendations are fine

Any help appreciated is appreciated :D

Does it have to be a laptop? As in, are you moving it back and forth every day?

Unfortunately, it does. I  need to take it to the university and do research there, be able to use it in my friends' houses and etc.

Hmmmmmmm.... I'd look at newer laptops from MSI or ASUS, apparently they're really good (I have a decent ASUS one myself, but it's a budget gaming one so it's not super amazing or anything). Plus you should be able to get a 6 core i7 in some, AFAIK machine learning likes lots of cores?

Yes it does. Prototyping, training and running algorithms does consume lots of GPU, RAM and CPU

what kind of GPU power do you need? Best CPU I've seen searching through gaming laptops on Newegg seems to be the i7 8750H, it's a 6c/12t CPU. If you get it with a 1070 you can fit one in your budget easily, but if you want a 1080 or higher they're mostly more expensive and basically massive bricks with screens.

After reading a bit on machine learning, looks like the GPU is needed more than the CPU, but both need to be good. MSI has some nice laptops:

This one sports a 6c/12t i7 with boost up to 4.3GHz, but only a 1070 (1080 would be better): https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA57X7AV1789

This one is $2600, but has a 1080. For CPU it has a 6c/12t i7 as well, though it boosts to 4.1GHz, shouldn't really notice a difference though: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834154832

^^^ This one is also 15", the other is a 17" so even heavier and more clunky.

Both are thick, heavy bricks of laptops but they should have the power you need. If you think you'll be fine with a 4c/8t CPU you can get lots more though, often with smaller form factors so they're more portable.
