It's something - Small server/folding rack [Build Log]

Go to solution Solved by megadarkwood,

And boom! We are done! Took us a few days but I actually finished it!

I added the final touch, the fans.

Thanks for sticking along! Hope you guys liked it! :D

Well, I was bored and decided to start a new project.

I have a few motherboards lying around from old mini PC's and wanted to do something with them. I decided on making a rack to hold them and keep it as small as possible.

I started it today and hope to finish is by tomorrow. I really don't have a drawn plan so you will just have to try and follow along :)

These are the motherboards that I have tested and are confirmed working:

I will be making the rack out of plexi-glass that I have lying around:

Here is the first joint, the adhisive that I am using takes 24 hours to dry so the next update will take a while:

Tomorrow I will try to get the project done and find my hotglue so that I do not have to wait 24 hours again.

Stay tuned! :D

Looks good, can't wait to see what it looks like. I have a few PCs at work I run just on the desks. This might be a nice way to house them.

The motherboards are small (Around m-itx) so this whole thing will be shorter than my laptop :)

That's too bad. I'm still looking forward to seeing the finished build. I eventually plan on putting together a micro-server possibly using a Soekris board and running NetBSD. I'll check back tomorrow for some hot glue action!

And we are almost done! All I have to do is add the fans and set up the PC's them selves.

I used some scrap pieces of plexi-glass to make the dividers.
