Let me start this off by saying thank you for your help.

Ive been a mechanic almost all my life with tech stuff here and there. Do to a very bad car wreck last year i had to have surgery and now have to look for a new line of work. I had learn what i can from YouTube and books. I have worked for a company doing Ubiquity installs on towers and home installs (company became shady on paying me). I found out i love the tech field more than i thought, and was just wondering what certs should i start with getting to get my foot into an IT job?

Certs are job specific. Some IT jobs require 0 certs just you have to know what your doing, others require A+, Microsoft certs, Apple certs, and a whole lot more.

They are pretty useless unless you have a job that requires them, so do research into what job you want exactly and see if they have any.

depends on what you're interested. but the CompTIA A+ is a good place to start. i would check your local colleges and see if they offer classes for it, they usually have discounts to take the exams

edit: you can also pursue a career in software development. this field is huge, lots of projects you can get into

A+ is a good cert to get if you're just starting out. Most starting IT jobs won't require more than that, but depends on the position.

Asking which cert to get is like asking which instrument to play, without giving any context.

People can give you lots of examples, but at the end of the day what really matters is what you want to do. I could recommend you start playing the euphonium, but if your goal is to have it as a party trick and you like string instruments then a guitar is obviously the better choice.

So, which IT job do you want? A networking consultant should have quite dramatically different qualifications than let's say an SQL consultant.
