Hello there,

I recently decided to build a new gaming PC Since It seems to be the best option for me right now, I will have a budget of $500 (USD) and I have one issue… I don’t know what type of hardware I will need, and that’s where you come in. I was hoping if any of you could give me ideas of what type of hardware I should get please leave any ideas below, I would like a dedicated GPU, But due to cryptomining I would say an APU would be fine. I would love if any of you could please take a moment out of your day and leave your thoughts and suggestions!

Kind Regards,

Mark

Honestly, for 500 (USD, I assume) getting a dedicated GPU with be almost impossible. If you're looking to stream games, you should save up some more.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

PSA: Posting a PCPartPicker list with no explanation isn't helpful for first-time builders :)

Agreed.  Playing games you can do for $500.  Streaming yourself playing games for $500 you cant.  at least not well.

A refurbished optiplex and a 1050 or a system with a Ryzen APU like the 2200G will get you playing games under $500 easy, but streaming takes cores and cores cost money.  At least that's what I understand.

Would I just need to do a BIOS Update to the motherboard?

You shouldn't have to, but I would check the manufacturers website just to be sure.

The gaming performance difference between the R3 and R5 isn't too great

Should grab 16GBs of RAM instead as you're likely to upgrade from the APU at some point anyways

$15 more for a 2TB drive or just use a 240GB SSD for now

having 2 monitors is very useful for streaming though

get the B450 ASrock Pro4 otherwise

You can just use ReLive to stream from the APU I'm pretty sure.

*Board is the same as the Fatal1ty board far as I can tell, still has display port for less.

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

This is not valid unless you have a 2nd PC or are streaming from a console.

There is a plug in for OBS called NDI that lets you do it without a capture card, although I've never really heard of it
