So my grandpa passed away and I got the lovely task of securing all important files of his computer, laptops, external HDD and Nas. So I've managed to get all files that could be of importance to one place on my personal PC drive, but the way the drives (from my grandpa) were organised I assume that a lot of files will be the same, and because we're talking about multiple terrabytes of storage space used, it is impossible for me to personally go and compare everything. So I was wondering if there would be any program the could do it for me... If you want specs, I can give you those, but I'm too lazy to write them down if it might not be needed.

Already thanks in advance

I don't think so...

I think something more suitable would be a tool like dupeGuru: https://dupeguru.voltaicideas.net/

You give it a folder and then the tool goes through the files and creates unique "signatures" for each file (or "hashes") and then compares hashes to find identical files.

I think it's also smart enough to determine if for example two mp3 files have identical audio content but different meta (ID3) tags like title, genre etc

Give it a try, it's safe to use, it doesn't change anything on the hard disk unless you explicitly tell it (and if i remember correctly I think you can use checkboxes to select duplicate files and choose to move them somewhere else instead of deleting them and then check again by yourself manually those moved files to be extra sure)
