I will build a pc for my birthday and i am not sure which cpu to get i found a i7 8700 230euros, an i5 8600k dellided only at 175 and a ryzen 5 2600x with 185. I will be mainly gaming and maybe a bit of recording but not much.I only plan to get a 120mm liquid cooler for the Intel cpus so i do not know whether its worth getting the delidded cpu or i7. If i get the ryzen I will not put an aftermarket cooler on it so it is my more budget option but i am not sure if i should use ryzen what do u guys think???

As per cinebench Single:Multi.

8700 = 203:1434

8600k = 183:1040

2600x = 176:1380

You may overclock with the 8600k and the 2600x to raise the single score a little while the 8700 cannot.

While many are going to say that Cinebench isn't a good benchmark to compare. It's what everyone uses and everyone has a good sense of what is a good score for Cinebench when it comes to comparing it to how the CPU will perform in games that require single threaded performance. For games that are actually optimized for multiple threads, the multithread performance shouldn't matter AS MUCH. Just get whichever is higher in that case.

However, I'd say anything ~180cb for single thread is more than good enough for single threaded games.

I found out that the 8700 is dellided as well so I will get that and I think that there is a slight way of overclocking thenon K chips.

Didn't you say 8600k was delidded?

The 8600k is pretty cheap and if you OC you could get pretty good performance out of it. I would suggest not to get 120mm AIOs unless it's a really good deal though. Usually they're worse than similarily priced air coolers. It's hard for me to recommend 120mm and 140mm AIOs in general because of this.

Will the i5 8600k oc that much to be as good as the 8700 with that cooler?

An OCed 8600k should be a bit faster than an 8700, though most of the time the difference won't be noticeable.

If you get an 8700, do save yourself some cash and get a cheaper motherboard such as a b360 board tho. Also you could probably get by with a cheaper cooler like an H7

No B350 is for AMD. B360 is for Intel. You can't OC with it and there's some other limitations (I believe no SLI is one of them) but the boards are usually a fair bit cheaper than Z370 ones.

No, you would be maxed out at 2666 MHz. Only Z370 boards allow for greater than 2666 MHz RAM
