So I just got a new MSI z97 gaming 3 motherboard, and it was going well in the installation, but when I boot up it said press F1 to configure boot up ir something like that.

Anyways I plug in my Razer blackwidow keyboard and it said overcurrent detected on USB device will shutdown in 15 seconds to prevent damage to motherboard, and it did.

Any help? Only keyboard I have at the moment... This never happened with my old motherboard

You can take the front panel USB lead, remove the red/black pins, and run them to 5v from somewhere else, like a molex connector.

Then plug KB into that port.

Which cable is the front panel usb lead?

The one that plugs into the front panel USB port on the motherboard.

Look dude, im going to be completely honest. I am lost. I haven't opened a PC since a year ago and haven't watched any pc videos since. I am basically a noob. If this helps, I unplugged my keyboard and started it up again and it still says the same thing.

You just said you got a new motherboard that is causing this problem, but you havent opend a PC in a year?  Which is it?

There is a cable that connects the motherboard to the USB ports in the front of the case, this is the cable you have to modify.  There are red and black wires in this cable, you need to connect this to 5v on your powersupply somewhere instead of to your motherboard (also red and black).

If you need further help, there are pinouts of all these wires/connectors on google.  I dont have any bookmarked because I have not used them in ages.

Okay so last year my motherboard failed me. I got a replacement and I bent the pins. Fast forward a year I get a new motherboard. Also is this the cable youre speaking about
