4790k max safe voltage?

Hi all. Recently got a new case and the 4790k runs a hell of a lot cooler. It does 4.6Ghz at 1.31v @ only 60-65c. Can/should I go higher? I don't plan to 24/7 it any higher than it already is, I'm just wondering if it's safe and/or a good idea to benchmark it at say 4.8ghz 1.4v or something slightly scary like that. Thanks.

Bit of an AMD fan I suppose. I don't bias my replies to anything however, I just prefer AMD and their products. Buy whatever the H*CK you want.

You can do 1.4V for a short time yes. I played around with that to try and get 5ghz. But I pretty much top out at 4.8ghz at 1.3V at 55C on my 4790K.

Basically wht he said and it depends on how long you want to keep your pc. I'd push 1.35 easy and used to run it at 1.4 for a bit. I have put insane almost 1.47 volts for benchmarks in order to get 5ghz but i havent run it at that voltage since then as its risky. Also temps have a huge affect on it so if your liquid cooling you should be able to push harder

I run mine at 4.7 with 1.2V. you sure you can't go lower?

I actually run 24/7 my i5 4690K (which is Devil's Canyon as the OP's i7) at 1.445 (max 1.45) to keep 4.7 GHz. It works like a charm, it's my absolute lowest stable voltage for stability in real tests. I guess I lost the silicon lottery, but still, I can keep my temps down to what I feel comfortable with. So I guess up to 1.45 is stable VCORE zone. VCCIN is 2.030 to 2.045

Up to 1.4V I'd say. Haswell is temperature limited in most cases, not voltage.

 

Also, make sure your Vccin is about 0.5-0,6V higher than your Vcore.

I should also mention that the BCLK is slightly bumped, to 100.2 MHz, the uncore is at 3.8 GHz (with +0.150V if I recall correctly) and the iGPU is at 1.5 GHz with stock GT voltage, which means that there's a lot of wasted headroom for iGPU OC in the HD 4600

Yeah mine does 4.4 at 1.24v so bless your golden sample chip. I got a below average chip to give you an idea.

Alright thx for the info guys. Will trying for 4.8 but id be surprised if its even stable at 1.4v honestly.
