im planning on upgrading from a gtx 660 to a 1060 in the next week, am i supposed to uninstall the current drivers for my 660, if so how do i do that.....or could i just wait till my 1060 gets here, replace the 660 with the 1060 and just download and install the 1060 drivers over the 660's drivers

There's DDU for that.

It basically goes like this:

Boot into save mode (if you run DDU on the desktop it has the option to reboot into save mode so no need to mess around)

Uninstall the old nvidia driver (again, DDU's job)

Shutdown the system.

Change cards.

Install the 1060.

Boot.

Install newest drivers from the Nvidia website.

Done.

Yes, but the thing is that the default uninstallers always leave some crap behind. DDU makes sure everything is deleted and you will do a proper clean install.
