Joking aside, if it only happens in Fortnite, it's not your ISP who's at fault. The servers at Epic are under heavy load,

so the session you're trying to connect to might have actually been disconnected. When the disconnect in Fortnite happens,

double check whether your internet is still working. If that's the case, it's a Fortnite problem.

Quite often (not always), when I hit the button to start a match, an error message pops up saying "Connection to the host has been lost".

I've already called my ISP a few times, the last time I threatened them with unsuscribing if they didn't solve this problem quickly (that was last week), though they've insisted from the beginning it's not their business.

Does anybody here know what could be the source of this problem?

If you're genuinely threatening your ISP because you can't get into a game of Fortnite then there's other issues that you should be dealing with as a higher priority.

I think that can't be the case, because when I'm playing with others and this error happens, I'm the only one that doesn't enter the match. Also, I have a cousin that's subscribed to the same ISP and he's been experiencing the same for a few months now.

Then stop threatening your ISP and just switch, lol. Also, anger management might be something to look into. If Kidsnite makes you angry, it's time to admit you have a problem.

I've threatened them with unsuscribing for their presumably bad service, is it that serious? Hahaha...

Do you have any word to replace "threat" in this scenario?

In your own words you issued a threat based on a presumption.

You'll get much further with companies if you talk to them, start issuing threats and you'll get the response that you got.

As other have already pointed out, an issue with one game is far more likely to be a server issue than a service issue.

I'd rather not. They'd take forever to come to uninstall their devices.

Basically I told them to solve the problem ASAP or I'd have to unsubscribe. I repeat, I think the word "threat" wasn't accurate enough.

Is it possible for you to confirm that your connection is still live when the game fails? Can you try it on a different platform to see if the issue persists?

A quick Google search shows this to be an incredibly common problem for people all around the world.

Yes, I have verified my connection multiple times during these errors. No, I don't have a console nor an iOS device.

Maybe it's the router/modem, the cousin I mentioned has one very similar to mine (if not the same), could it be?

I think you're not reading what @MasterDisaster posted. It's a common problem, meaning it's not isolated to you and your cousin nor is it isolated to your ISP. It's a Fortnite problem. It's time to accept you're SOL.

Well I've found 3 potential fixes varying in difficulty...

1) Easiest but least effectivity. Many people are saying switching server region removes the issue entirely however this means huge pings and you lose the ability to play with friends in other regions.

2) Most plausible. A lot of users say they fixed it by editing security/firewall settings on their routers. If you're router has security levels then try changing it from the highest setting to the medium one.

3) Most difficult and using a sledgehammer to crack a walnut. A few users have reported that doing a full Windows reinstall has resolved this issue.

Epic acknowledged the issue exists on their forums but have since not said anything about it again.
