Weird HDD issue

I salvaged my a harddrive from my laptop which died and I want to install it in my desktop to recover data and later use it as a backup drive. 

 

Would this work or would I need improvise and add resistors since the hdd might take lower power.

edit:

 

I unplugged the SATA data cable and turned the pc on, the hard drive does spin up,but for some odd reason when the data cable is plugged in it does not even turn on the drive as it doesn't even spin up

If there are both sata it should be fine

Laptop HDD's should work fine in a desktop

I sexually identify as a Dell Optiplex 755

hdd would not identify in bios. doesn't seem like it is turned on as I don't hear it.

tried disabling fast boot. I dont think it is dead since it worked before.
