I was about to comment on how similar our PC builds look until I noticeed you're the same guy I helped make the build in the first place. :D But no, you probably won't need an 8700K, 8600K is basically an 8700K without hyperthreading and two less cores.

no, not for gaming or photoshop. a 8600k will serve you well up to 1080 ti territory.

He's right unless you want to upgrade to an 11 series in the future (1180-1170).

You could go the Ryzen way if you want more core and threads LONG LIVE MULTITASKING.

Oh yeah, my bad, I was thinking of the i7-9700K there, it has 8 cores according to leaks. ;) I see you've gone for a 1070, fans later I assume?

If you're building two PCs over the course of two years, your money is best used on an 8700K right now. I can't see a person ever needing two PCs for dedicated tasks. :/

Paired with just a GTX 1070 you'll see no difference between the i7 and i5 in gaming unless you plan to do heavy multi-tasking while gaming.

Probably not worth it. Consider the locked 8700, as the clockspeeds are already fairly high, and it has HT.

That's a fire hazard, change it.

The Formula Gold is a much nicer PSU with a much nicer fan, and costs the same. Plenty of wattage for overclocking with 450W.
