So I have a Lenovo yoga 720 laptop, which has both Intel graphics 620 and a gtx 1050. I have it connected to an external monitor (acer predator z35p) with a USB c to displayport cable. I was wondering if there was a way for the dp cable to be routed directly to the gtx 1050, instead of to the igpu, using the 1050 only when needed. Thanks!

Your laptop has switchable graphics. The NVIDIA GPU will kick in and take over rendering duties when necessary automatically.

If you're curious how this works, the NVIDIA GPU simply copies what it rendered to the iGPU's frame buffer.

Thanks for replying. I have my settings worked out so I use the Nvidia gpu when I need it, but as is, with the Intel graphics as the primary gpu, the Nvidia control panel only shows 3d settings, the settings that the 1050 are used for. This means I can't activate G sync, and I was hoping changing my primary gpu could fix this.

The way the system is set up, the NVIDIA GPU cannot be set as the primary GPU because the display outputs are physically connected to the iGPU. And because of that, GSYNC is not available.
