Hello everyone,

So recently my friend brought a 240GB Kinston SSD from Amazon, I installed Windows 10 for him and after a couple of months, he decided it'd be a good idea to force shutdown his Laptop, which corrupted the SSD.

I have attempted multiple fixes, tried to reinstall windows 10, install Ubuntu, and I am now trying Darik's Boot and Nuke, it's taking a while to complete. The computer can read the SSD and how much space it has but puts the volume as 240GB Unknown.

I think the SSD might be totalled.

PS: My friend lost the receipt :(

Thanks

Steven.

A simple ATA secure erase would've taken only a couple of minutes and it'd have completely erased everything on the SSD. If it still didn't work, then it's pretty much a goner, though I have no idea why -- a power-loss shouldn't break an SSD, only corrupt its contents at worst. Ultimate Boot CD has the tool called hdderase 4.0 on it, I hear it should work (though I have never used it myself. I just use hdparm under Linux, myself)
