Anciant Dell pc

f1shy321

Aside from my current mac i also have an ancient dell computer with windows xp. If I get a new hard drive and SSD with windows 10 pre installed would it be able to run it or would i have to upgrade some of the parts in it? (I dont know what parts are inside it the plate is stuck and i have been trying to get it open for almost 20 minutes now)

It depends on the components of your Dell PC, Windows XP to Windows 10 is a high jump in resources such as RAM and CPU power. Such as running Windows 10 on a PC with 2GB of memory is going to be a struggle.

A new hard drive will work, but very slow. All depends on the system specs.

If it has dual core CPU, DDR2 RAM and SATA2 port, then its all good for SSD. You could go with SATA1 port and SSD too, but other parts might be hindering. Like single core CPU is nope and you can find better base PCs from recycling centers.
