Internet acting odd

Nineballo

Websites take about 10-40sec sometimes they don’t connect at all.

Running a speedtest shows no drops and a solid 100-180mbs depending on where I am and how many people are using it so what’s going on?

(modem shows at max 50% mem usage)

edit: websites used to be under 3sec usually 1-2

Is it just websites that seem to take an increasing amount of time, or is it anything that connects out to the internet, so to speak (i.e. Steam, Instant Messengers, Applications)

Just a hunch based on the limited data, but might be worth looking at your DNS resolver settings, assuming it's not some sort of packet loss issue in play.

Try opening Command Prompt (Search for "cmd" (without quotes) in the start menu and select Command Prompt) and running "ping -t 1.1.1.1" (without quotes) to check if there's any packet loss (Press Ctrl + C to stop it once you're sure that there is/isn't any packet loss).

If it's a packet loss issue, you may want to check your equipment (cable, router, modem, etc.) or contact your ISP for support.

If there isn't any packet loss, you may have a DNS resolver issue. Try setting your DNS to 1.1.1.1 and/or 8.8.8.8

That would be 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1, or 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.  Always best to include the secondary DNS server.

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)

Does this affect one or multiple devices?

Are the devices hardwired or wireless?

As others have said, does this only seem to affect loading websites, or does it also affect say sending a Facebook message to a family mamber? (after messenger.com has loaded, of course)

And when connected directly to the modem (via wired / wireless) does it do the same as when connected to the router?
