Currently I'm pulling my Arctic Xtreme iv of an old gpu and want to install it on my 980 ti.

https://www.arctic.ac/eu_en/accelero-xtreme-iv.html

I can re-use everything except for the 'protective film'. And for some reason I can't order it

from their website to ship to Belgium...

Is there anything else I could order from somewhere?

Or use something else (like a anti-static motherboard bag or something) ?

Use tape of any kind. It's just to prevent electrical contact (and hence, shorts) between the smaller individual heatsinks and nearby resistors or capacitors.

Out of interest, how are you going to remove the heatsinks off the old ram and vrms? I have the accelero xtreme 3 on my 1080Ti, and those sinks are attached using thermal epoxy, so they won't be easily removable. I considered it an investment and hoped I'd never need to take it off.

the IV doe not have those. It is better to use them on high end gpu but it is designed with a large backside cooler for vrm cooling.

As stated by @Pangea2017, the iv doesn't need it.

Electrical tape could do the trick. But I have some anti static bags laying around. Maybe those could work?

Anything that can act as a layer to shield the components from the backplate is fine.

What I did before is buy 2 piece of the bigger sized thermal pads and covered the entire pcb on the back side. Worked like a charm and made sure to cool every part in the process.

Test the vrm cooling under syntethic load just to make sure the card will survive the next years. The vrm cooling is not the best and the chance that your vrm need additional cooling with a 980ti are high.

Use a multimeter to see what i mean. Anti static bags are conductive (silver/grey color). The red ones are not (most times).

Electrical tape will be fine. If you want to spend unnecessary some money get your self kapton tape.

I have the same problem in a few months when i upgrade to the next nvidia generation or amd if they have something good like the RX-4xx series again.

Customer support of Arctic just got back to me.

There is something with their ordering system and as compensation they'll send on for free ;)

A big piece of thermal pad would be an ideal alternative
