Rechargeable Batteries

I am done buying disposable AA batteries as they seem like a giant waste of money. I have had some rechargeable ones for years now and they still work great but I am looking in the newer tech now like Lipo instead of Nimh. What's the best and relatively cheapest rechargeable batteries for the AA form factor you can get? I also don't want to worry about some cheap chinese lipo cells blowing up in everything too

You can't just directly use li-ion cells as replacements for regular AA-batteries, because li-ion has a nominal voltage of 3.7V and regular AA has 1.5V. There are non-standard li-ion cells that do output 1.5V, but you need to then get a matching charger for them -- you absolutely must not use a NiMH-charger with them. Now, as to actually who manufactures such: look for products made by Kentli, they produce the li-ion stuff.

 

As for what @Sakkura there suggested, those are NiMH.

For your basic devices high quality Ni-mh are the way to go, if your looking for high current or power draw devices you would be looking at Lithium but the voltage for those would be 3.7-4.0V There are non-rechargeable 1.5V lithium's for flashlights or energizer's version but that defeats the purpose.

Yeah I figured that. I see 1.5v lipos on eBay that have a charger built into them and you just plug it into a USB port

For your basic devices high quality Ni-mh are the way to go, if your looking for high current or power draw devices you would be looking at Lithium but the voltage for those would be 3.7-4.0V There are non-rechargeable 1.5V lithium's for flashlights or energizer's version but that defeats the purpose.

As mentioned Eneloops are pretty much the best you can get, usually a good sign is if they're made in Japan, I'm quite certain the ones from Amazon are essentially rebrands. I've used a fair number of Amazon basics rechargeable batteries and never had an issue.

Ni-Mh has a nominal voltage of 1.2V but when fully charged they rise up to around 1.5V max so there is a somewhat large voltage range. The only time where Ni-mh might not perform as well is if the device requires high amperage and high voltage to get the best performance such as in high power LED flashlights. For general electronics around the house and tech gear you'll rarely see an issue like that.
