DISPLAYPORTV1.2 VS HDMI

Hi Guys n Girls,

I've just been slapped in the brain...

I've been using an HDMI cable connecting my monitor to my MSI R9 390x.....

*prepare to laugh*

I just bought a vga to hdmi cable thinking i could hook up this old screen for S&G's (S#%T's n Giggles)

The HDMI wouldn't fit in the second jack in the GPU...

SO - After looking into it i find the 2nd jack is something called "Displayportv1.2"

*Que Laughter*

My question is.....

Is it better to be connected to my monitor via this displayport jack or is there really no difference?

(note- if so i would be going for a Displayport - DHMI adapter as i have cable managed out the wahzoo)

*Monitor is an AOC 24inch 60Hz*

Well if you're just going to get an adapter for DP to HDMI, then it's no better than a standard HDMI connection.

For 1080p 60 Hz there's no difference between DP and HDMI.
