mabye a new macbook pro 15 inch? that should work out well, however if you want more power, this is pretty good.https://www.ibuypower.com/Store/MSI-GT75-Titan-057-Gaming-Laptop-CFL

it comes with some free stuff.

I wanted to keep it under 1300-1200 so a macbook probably wouldn't work.

I am looking for a laptop to use in college. I currently own a desktop PC that is pretty good, but I also need a laptop for the portability. I am probably going to buy the laptop I linked below, and I am just wondering if anyone has heard good or bad things about it and if it looks like a good deal. I am going to be an engineering major, probably mechanical, so I will definitely be using the processing power in this computer. The main things I was looking for was a good cpu (this one is an 8th gen i7), a dedicated graphics card, and decently long battery life so I don't have to be constantly charging it all day.

then it looks pretty good. check to see if you can upgrade its ram, which i thiink is useful for simulations. 32GB ram really helps for video editing and 3d simulations. My friend does 3d simulations of aerodynamics and has a 64GB ram laptop. :/

My sibling completed his Mechanical Engineering degree with an Acer 5742G with a little dual core Core i3 paired with a HD5450. 4GBs of RAM, later upgraded to 8GB during his final year. Not sure how the hell that thing ran Solidworks like it was nothing.

That's nuts, my full size desktop (i5 R9 380) even stutters a bit on some bigger renders.

I decided to order that laptop. The budget was under 1300.
