The Cryorig H7, Noctua NH-U12S, the evo 212 or its bigger brother the Cooler Master Hyper 212X are all very solid choices for air cooling an 8700.

Hey, I am looking for a good air cooler to pair with my i7-8700, rather than buying the H100i v2 liquid cooler, any suggestions?  My ram is only 31 mm high, and I have a full ATX case, so most air coolers should be able to fit in it.  Thanks!

I would defiantly go with the U14S over the U12S. I ran mine on a 4690k running at 1.280v, i would think your 8700 would run hotter. And i found it was worth it to switch.
