GTX 550 Ti microcode chip

Hello guys,

I bought from ebay a gpu that was describded as a gtx 750 ti, but in fact was a gtx 550 ti.
Now, I tried to flash to the proper bios using the CH341A programmer and this stuff.

The bios chip was the one below. (MX25L512)

My problem is, that after I reflashed the bios when I try to install the driver, when I go to device manager and scan for changes my screen goes black and I cannot do anything but shutting down/restarting the computer so my gpu is unusable.
What I need to mention is that before finding the proper bios chip on the cpu, I connected that programmer clip to the below chip (EM 5103) and I did some modifications there, so that could be the problem.

So what do you think? Is that the issue? If yes, what can I do about it? If not, what else could be the problem?

Thank you very much in advance.

All of this is pointless, just go and buy a genuine 750Ti if that's the one you originally wanted.

You got scammed. No matter how hard you try you won't get a 750Ti out of the 550Ti or whatever they actually sent you.

What I can't understand though is that even when we warn people of these fake/counterfeit GPU's on Ebay, people will still buy them. All this is doing is encouraging fakers (criminals) to make more, we should be trying to stamp out the fakes not encouraging for more to be on sale. If I was Nvidia or AMD I'd want Ebay to invest in a program that stops the fake GPU's from being sold and any fake GPU's on sale to be destroyed so people can't get scammed, I'd also want Ebay to find the fakers and report them to the police.

To be more clear. I wasn't scammed. I knew what I was buying so the point what getting a free gtx 550 ti for a project. So when I said I reflashed the proper bios I meant the gtx 550 ti bios.

Out of pure curiosity, why would you do this?

Why not just leave it the way it was?

Will perform better if I install the 550 ti driver, and I cannot install it without reflashing to 550 ti bios

Like I said it's people like you that encourage fakers to sell more fake/counterfeit GPU's, we should be trying to stamp them out not encourage them to sell more.

It's not gonna perform better than a 550Ti, no matter what BIOS you flash to it.

He wanted to buy it, claim the money back as a scam, and get "a free 550ti". Wanted to flash so there isn't any drivers issue because it's in fact a 550ti. Seems clear to me if i got it right.

basically wanted to "outchinese" the chinese

I know it's not gonna perform better than a 550 Ti, but in this stage is not even performing as good as a 550 ti. All I want is just to work properly as 550 ti

I've done that, but I found no solution to my issue. Because now it's seen as gtx 550 ti, but my screen goes black when trying to install the driver or scanning for changes in device manager.

I've registered here just to write this.

Dude, you've flashed bios microcode on a chip that was not bios. What do you think happened? You've ruined the chip.

I think you have two ways to fix it:

- find proper microcode for the chip you ruined and reflash it. Maybe it's awailable on the internet, maybe you can copy it from the same chip on a working gpu, maybe you can ask somebody on the internet to help you get that microcode

- find dead 550TI and get the chip you need from that. Chances are it's gonna be working, so you'll need to remove your ruined chip and solder on the working one.

For the first solution I'd recommend you to go to hardcore hardware repair forums, people over there will be more likely able to help you. For the second one... I guess local hardware repair shop?
