It'll be quite sometime before Nvidia will come out with something new, probably won't even be this year.

It's gonna be a bit like 2-3 months and it'll be lack luster to what you think. But Nvidia will hype it up to death

There is certainly a new architecture in the works and it supposedly uses gddr6.  Nvidia has an overstock of pascal cards right now due to mining dieing fast.  The new cards could be a refresh or they could be a new architecture.

 

My guess would be that in a few month's there will be a new architecture released, at which point you should be able to snatch up a 10 series for a really good price.  Just remember that new card launches take a long time to go into full swing, with them staggering the different tiers of cards and stock being hard to come by for the first few month's. (edit: also if there is a new architecture miners might snatch them up so even harder to get)

 

Personally I'm doing good on the gpu front so I will wait for a new architecture before I upgrade.  If you are looking to buy now I would wait for a drop in 10 series prices, either before or after 11 series launch or if they should come back to msrp and/or go on sale.  The only card I hear about getting to msrp is the 1070ti, however if you watch newegg long enough you can find deals.  I got an rx570 at close to msrp at the height of the mining craze by simply adding a notification when it came in stock.  Just don't spend much more than msrp right now.
