Posted this in another forum, but I though I would post it here too!

Hey guys! First a little bit about what I use my computer for: Mostly gaming, word processing, internet browsing, and a little bit of video editing every now and then.

Currently I am using a MSI P67-GD55 motherboard with a Intel i7 2700K processor clocked at 4.3Ghz, I do plan to overclock my CPU a bit more in the future, but probably no more than 4.7Ghz for daily use.

I won a sweepstakes a couple moths ago and I won a Intel BOXDZ77RE75K motherboard:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813121639&Tpk=intel%20dz77 re%2075k%20mobo&IsVirtualParent=1

I will be getting the motherboard in a couple of days. Now I am not sure if I should keep the MSI board or the Intel motherboard. What would you do if you were in my position?

If I decide to keep the MSI board, how much can I expect to sell the Intel motherboard for?

I was thinking of upgrading to a 1080P monitor if I get enough money.(Any recommendations?)

The two good things I can see about the Intel mobo over the MSI is that Intel products are known to be very long lasting and reliable(is this true?) and the onboard graphics in case my GPU ever breaks.

I don't really have a use for thunderbolt, because I have no thunderbolt compatible devices.

Thanks!

 Oops, posted this in the wrong section, sorry! Anyway I can move this to the motherboard section?

get that intel board i would never recommend intel boards but that board is legit

Space Journal #1: So Apparently i  was dropped on the moon like i'm a mars rover, in a matter of hours i have found the transformers on the dark side of the moon. Turns out its not that dark since dem robots are filled with lights, i waved hi to the Russians on the space station, turns out all those stories about space finding humans instead of the other way around is true(soviet Russia joke). They threw me some Heineken beer and I've been sitting staring at the people of this forum and earth since.

Why would you not recommend intel boards?

I would keep the Intel motherboard because it is running a newer chipset (Z77) than your current MSI one (P67). The Z77 chipset has support for integrated graphics and you can you LUCID VIRTU technology which combines your integrated graphics on your cpu and your gpu power in order to get better performance in application and games.

I only have a 1600x900 monitor right now and a 660Ti GPU so I don't think there is any point of the integrated gpu power.

Also isn't the 1155 socket being retired? Would I be able to do any upgrades from my 2700K(except for the 3770K)?

Will Intel make any more 1155 CPUs? I

I'd go with the Z77 board, the 660 ti would benefit from it because of the pcie 3.0.

I have a Sandy bridge CPU so no PCIE 3.0, and no modern card can saturate a PCIE 2 16x lane anyway(Titan maybe?). Especially not my 660Ti lol

The big reason I don't want to keep it is because in the summer the 1150 platform will be released, so I won't really be able to upgrade(except to ivy bridge which is only a small upgrade)

Blah I had a long write up, but I deleted by accident and now I'm too lazy to type it all back.

so short form,

Never owned a intel board, but from my understanding they are Great only if you are running at the stock settings because its a standard they designed for those specific specs.

I heard its terrible for overclocking, crappy support/ harder/ less friendly compared to MSI.

Stick with MSI board - GET more money selling a new intel board than a used MSI board

motherboard features gained from z77- really useless for you, lucid virtue pain to setup for very little gain as you don't encode much. Doubt you planning on using intel smart response for ssd to mechanical drive caching feature. That's also a pain to set-up unless you know what you are doing.

I would suggest you to sell the intel board then since you are happy with the board that you are currently using now and you are planning to upgrade in the summer.
