ok so i installed a 2nd gtx 1070 in to my system so when i go to the nvida control panel under 3d settings it does not show me any sli option and when i check device manager it does not show me 2 cards but only 1 gtx 1070

in gpu-z my one of my gtx 1070's are running 8x mode so both of them are probably running in 8x mode can someone help meh

How did the "installing second GPU" look like? Try reinstalling GPU drivers if you haven't done that. I will ask just in case but you are using an SLI bridge, right?

i am using a 2 way sli bridge it went fine no problems i already reinstalled the drivers

Next step would be to check different PCIE slots on the board, one can be dead. Assuming both GPU's work ofc.

If you are sure that both GPU's are working (have you tried both of them on the same slot one after another?) and then you moved the working GPU to a different PCIE slot but lost the display then your mobo pcie slots are the problem.

yep both are working but when i plug in my dp1.4 cable in to the 2nd slot card the display loses signal

Did you try what @WereCat said? Remove both Gpus, plug only one to top pcie slot and see if it sees your card. If yes then turn off the pc, remove the Gpu and put it into lower slot. And repeat. Report if all pcie slots have been tested.

 

Also, what motherboard do you have?

What's your CPU? Are you using any M.2 SSD's or have any other PCI-E cards installed?
