GPU Side PCIE Connector question

That's an essential connector.

 

The longer set of pins determines what speed it will run at.

Hence x1, x4, etc being shorter slots physically than x16.

There's a gpu I found with these burns on it, I've been trying to find information on the pcie connector as i know that depending on what pins are covered it will run in x16 x8 x4 and I'm wondering if this is one of those or if it's an essential connector and will not function otherwise. I'm not buying it, just curious.

Don't buy it that's probably burned through the layers of the PCB from how serve it looks. As for that section of connectors it's the 12V power line which it can take power directly from the motherboard's PCI-E slot.

signs of a short = do not buy. Often beyond level of repairable by anyone without specialized tools and skills.
