Nvidia Releases GTX 1050 3GB Variant

Rainbow Dash

Nvidia has released another GTX 1050, this time with 3GB of VRAM.

Quote

The graphics card has 768 CUDA cores, equivalent to the amount found on the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. The GTX 1050 Gaming 03G runs at a 1392MHz base clock with a boost clock that scales up to 1518MHz. The 3GB of GDDR5 memory is untouched and operates at stock 7008MHz across a 96-bit memory bus.

I guess Nvidia has decided to just modify their current gpus to fill gaps in the gpu market. With the lowered memory bus, increased CUDA cores, and the price close to the GTX 1050Ti, this would be pointless to get over the GTX 1050Ti.

When returned GPU cores are in greater supply than RAM...

I guess we should get used to the same model of card being marketed with completely different specs from now on then. Talk about confusing for people who don't pay much attention to technical details.

If only we had some kind of GeForce program to make clear the technical differences for the benefit of the consumers... 9_9

As if we needed more cards, this is pretty much a GTX 1050 Ti Lite.

Could be, but I don't particularly believe Jen Hsun when he says we won't be seeing the next generation for a long time.

Yeah, though I'd say this isn't as bad as the GTX 1060 3GB, GT 1030 D4 or RX 560 896 vs 1024 because you're actually getting something better than expected. This card should perform a fair bit better than the 2GB GTX 1050.

Main Rig: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X | RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) KLEVV CRAS XR RGB DDR4-3600 | Motherboard: Gigabyte B550I AORUS PRO AX | Storage: 512GB SKHynix PC401, 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus, 2x Micron 1100 256GB SATA SSDs | GPU: EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra 10GB | Cooling: ThermalTake Floe 280mm w/ be quiet! Pure Wings 3 | Case: Sliger SM580 (Black) | PSU: Lian Li SP 850W

Server: CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 3100 | RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) Crucial DDR4 Pro | Motherboard: ASUS PRIME B550-PLUS AC-HES | Storage: 128GB Samsung PM961, 4TB Seagate IronWolf | GPU: AMD FirePro WX 3100 | Cooling: EK-AIO Elite 360 D-RGB | Case: Corsair 5000D Airflow (White) | PSU: Seasonic Focus GM-850

Miscellaneous: Dell Optiplex 7060 Micro (i5-8500T/16GB/512GB), Lenovo ThinkCentre M715q Tiny (R5 2400GE/16GB/256GB), Dell Optiplex 7040 SFF (i5-6400/8GB/128GB)

Just like how they butchered the GT 1030 with DDR4.

Shhhhhhh, new NDA! The first rule of the GeForce Program is that you don't talk about GeForce Program. :P

surprised? shouldn't be.

Yeah, it's been "out" for a while. Why has it all of a sudden been making the headlines lately? It's not new news.
