Hello, I'm looking to buy a laptop and I'm considering one of the set ups with an external gpu. I plan on using it for school and light gaming at home (csgo, league, fortnite). This is just something i'm thinking about getting so not sure about budget yet. If anyone has any recommendations I would appreciate it.

The major flaw with eGPU set-ups though is that it looses it's portability, are you sure you want something like this?

Thoses are not really Demanding Games,

A 1050/1050ti GPU would do fine..

no real need for a eGPU .-.

EDIT: unless you somehow already have a eGPU...
But might aswell just get a laptop with GPU insdie of it. would save $$$$

budget?

For those games Id probably just get a laptop with a 1050 as that would be much cheaper and less hassle compared to a egpu.

I wanted something portable that i can use at school. Currently have a 5lb laptop and carrying it around is pretty cumbersome also it has like 2hr~ battery life

Yes so I was thinking that it would be nice to have my eGPU at home where where i can plug and play my laptop and still have it be light weight enough for me to take it to school.

Yes but that laptop probably has low battery life and bulky :/. Not sure what the better option would be between this and getting a gaming desktop + regular laptop

Yes but laptops with dedicated gpus usually quite bulky and have bad battery life
