Old SSD as boot drive

Please help.

I have an "old" ssd (samsung 840) that i have windows and some other programs on i now im building a new system and im thinking of using this as a boot drive but i dont knew how to install a new copy of windows on it. Do i need to reformat the drive or does windows fix it automaticly?
