Is it worth upgrading?

Hey guys, 

 

I'm currently wondering whether to sell my 1070 for $500 NZD and buying a brand new 1080ti for $1299 NZD mainly so I can get an improved FPS on a heavily modded Skyrim and other games. I prefer 1440p but when it's heavily modded that takes me down to 33 to 48 depending on the demand on the screen at the time however I'm also mindful that I don't know about upcoming cards. The CPU i've paired with it is the 6700k

 

Is it a good idea to upgrade now?

How much RAM do you have and what drive is Skyril located on?

16GB of ram. Total physical memory is showing as 16000 so I've got skyrim allocated for 12228 thanks to the falls creator update. It's currently on my C drive with an SSD.

It might be worth it, but id recommend waiting a gen before upgrading. You are paying a pretty penny. And your system is allready really good

 

Though im unshure what is creating the bottleneck.

Might be. I think sometime during fall. Not really sure though.

Maybe this year, maybe next year, nevertheless 1070 is decent enough to hold off from buying 1080 Ti until you know more info on next gen.

I'd say wait for 11xx series as pascal line has been around for a long time now and you may get the frames you want with a 1160 if you wait a couple of months.
