thanks for putting these together, i really appreciate it.

is there any reason you have steered clear of intel?

https://nz.pcpartpicker.com/list/PpnR4q only thing you are giving up is a slightly smaller motherboard which in most cases wont matter.

HELP!

So i am planning to upgrade my pc in the next month or so and need desperate help with what to go with.

my first question is if i should get a i7 8700k or 7700k, if i was to go with 7800k i would need to upgrade my motherboard as well so feel free to link one of those if there is a certain one that would benefit me.(it needs to be mATX).

my second question if is should get a GTX1060 6gb or wait to see what Nvidia comes out with the 1100 / 2000 line up (please consider the wait until they come out with the new line up).

please keep in mind i am trying to find my best value for money so dont go recommending a i9 7980xe and a GTX 1080TI (insert laughing emoji here)

Thanks in advance for your help, anything is appreciated.

What is your pc's use case?

What do you do with it?

Only gaming, or some rendering also?

i have a segotep polarlight 2.0

i will use it to develop games, play games, and render some animations / edit some videos.

Then get either the 8700k or a r7 2700x.

If you do lots of multithreaded stuff the 4 extra threads of ryzen come into play.

What are you planning on doing with the pc?

intel recently released their i7 8068k with a factory set 5ghz turbo clock, BUT limited quantities...

for games and streaming a i7 6700k is still very effective if its what you plan to do, and much more available at a good price. Regarding cost efficiency probably best to get the best cpu that fits your motherboard and save $150+

as for GPU, gaming, if Nvidia base their new graphics cards on volta /turing you can bet they're gonna sell out in seconds because of the current GPU climate, and wont be very available at a good price till most likely mid 2019, but tbh thats anyone's guess

I'd look at 1070ti, they're literally the same price as a 1070 nowadays and if your looking into a 1060 its not too steep of a step up, quite a bit of future proofing as it will play most modern titles (battlefield, fortnite, pubg, overwatch etc) at 144hz or 4k depending on your settings.

hope this helps!

Id recommend a 2700x from what ive read in this post. Also a gtx 1060 will work just fine. A 1070ti is also a good option if you have the budget to spare.

What is your budget and region? Ill create a build. What is your vurrent build aswell? (GPU, RAM, CPU)

@7OBEZ

This will fit within the budget

https://nz.pcpartpicker.com/list/BdYDw6

A 6 core 1600 and a 1060.

12 GB of RAM to pair with your current single 4GB for a total 16GB. And a optionable 1TB HDD

Or

https://nz.pcpartpicker.com/list/B7qZQZ

1600, gtx 1060 with non-mismatch 16GB of ram which will allow for upgrade to 32GB in the future.

If you can get a used 1060 in your region for about 300$ you should be able to fit a 8 core 2700/x.

Its either a used 1060 or one of these, 970, R9 290x, Rx 480/580, gtx 780ti.

See if you can get them between 200-350$

How good is the used market over in your region?

no problem.

there arent a whole lot of second hand products going second hand that are worth buying but my local store has some gtx 1060 6gb g1 going for 460$ as a pose to 570$ so i can save abit there thats it really.

usually you get better price to performance by going AMD, but it seems like new zealand is different in that regard. srry for wasting your time, i just checked Intel prices.

it was a real surprise to me nz prices. i usually configure US and EU build.

for 8th gen CPUs you need 300 series mobos due to different pin layout and power delivery
