I currently have a Ryzen system running on a Gigabyte Gaming K5 X370 motherboard. I'm having a strange issue where the Ethernet doesn't work on occasion. I have Windows 10 Home version 1803, and the onboard network card shows up as an Intel 1211 Gigabit network connection in device manager, on driver version 12.15.184.0 from 10/10/2017 (I've changed driver versions and reset the driver using the Windows 10 network reset, along with testing on Ubuntu; nothing fixes the problem). I technically get some internet connection over Ethernet, but there are way too many packets lost for it to be acceptable, even on a pingtest using the direct Ethernet connection to my router. Speeds come up at about 0.07 mbps down and 0.01 mbps up, whereas my network speed is around ~3 mbps down, ~0.75 mbps up (I know, not great, but usable). The Ethernet cord definitely isn't the issue, since it works on multiple other PCs. This PC can also connect to the WiFi with a USB dongle. It's especially strange, since the problem somewhat seems to come and go. It's worked a couple of times after restarting, loading into BIOS and whatnot, but I haven't been able to find a permanent fix, and I really don't want to keep using WiFi. Thanks in advance for any help!

If reinstalling the drivers for your onboard Ethernet NI (network interface) doesn't work, what I would do in your situation is eliminate a faulty ethernet interface on the mobo itself first before going onto any more troubleshooting. You can approach doing this however you'd like, I would suggest using an external USB-to-Ethernet adapter or another solution to ensure that it's not faulty hardware and that it's an I/O issue before you go on.

Download new Ethernet drivers from the manufacturers website.

After about an hour of attempting to update drivers, using packages from both Gigabyte's website and Intel's, I got to version 12.14.7.0, which seems like a lower number, but it's from 11/3/2017, so I'm not sure. It's the latest download, but running the executable doesn't install any new drivers, so I had to use the .inf files. The problem persists.
