Overkill? Need help

In a few weeks I plan on building my first ever gamig pc, I wish to use an asus b350f strix motherboard and was looking at the amd ryzen 7 1800x cpu, with an asus 1060 6gb OC edition GFX card. Do you guys think the CPU is overkill for gaming?

i would appreciate a suggestion to use for the CPU if you believe so. Thanks :-)

Ryzen 5 or i5, plus a 1070 or 1070ti would be better for most games at 1080p or higher.

If gaming, I would go with intel. The i5 8400 is a solid choice with a 1060 6GB, and also great with a 1070/Ti.

For gaming, Intel is the better buy. Also, buy the best gpu you can afford without going lower than an i5 8400.

Thank you I think i will stick with the asus 6gb oc but still stuck on my CPU ive heard good things about AMD and Intel but im stuck

TYSM bro! I will be sure to check this out and no I have not purchased any parts yet, thank you for sticking to some of my original parts i really appreciate that but instead of the Motherboard you picked do you think I could use the asus rog strix Z370F because I want a bit of RGB and down the road I will add a HUE+ And also looking at a fully modular PSU, I want custom white cables which i have selected for about 30$ on amazon - the canles are not included in my budget but its fine I already have them taken care of

By the way I was thinking that CPU cooler  because on amazon it came in a bundle with the CPU so I had the CPU price raised and the cooler price lowered but the  i5 8600k doesnt come in any form of bundle
