will my hdmi to vga adapter work with the gtx 1060 to my monitor ?

it currently works from my motherboard to my monitor

i cant use a dvi-i to vga since it only got dvi-d

Yes.

HDMI only carries digital signals; if the converter is working it's because it's an active converter (i.e. a converter with active circuitry inside to convert the HDMI video into VGA). So you shouldn't have any issues with getting it to work*

*With one caveat. Your converter might not support HDCP. If this is the case, you may have issues displaying protected content [e.g. Netflix]

Desktop: HP Z220 Workstation, 12 GB RAM, 2x500 GB HDD RAID0, + GTX 1060 3GB

Laptop: ThinkPad T430, 8 GB RAM, 1x120 GB SSD
