Need Help on Building a PC

Hello, i'm not too familiar with the specifics of building customs pc but i do know the basics of putting them together. I have an i5 processor (4cores) on a msi z77a 45a motherboard and im asking if i can run a gtx 1070ti or gtx 1080. Which leads me to my next question, which is better, the 1070ti or 1080. I will mainly used it to play games and use it as a digital audio station. Much appreciated for any help and thank you.

Yup, you can run that card on your board.  The 1080 is a more powerful card, but both play games at 1440p well and crush 1080p.

The I5 isn't the best CPU, but it is serviceable depending on what games you play.

Thank you very much,i play on ps4 only but i intend to play fortnite with my xbox compatriots with crossplay mostly lol and use music software like finale and fruity loops. My next investment will be a better CPU under your suggestion. Is there a cpu you recommend? My budget will be predicated on your recommendation. Thank you.

The best CPU for your MOBO is a 3770K.  It's 4 cores and 8 threads.  If you are just playing fortnight then it is overkill.  8GB of Ram and a PSU that can run the whole system is all you should need.

haha on second thoughts it is a bit of overkill but i do intend to try other modern games as well. Thank you for your help, this saves me the time at looking at countless youtube videos and reading for getting the right components. Thanks very much. Have a good one my friend.
