I want to replace my old laptop and my options are between Lenovos and Asus. I have been told that the quality is better from asus. I want to know what would be the better choice between the to in regards with performance, battery life, build quality and how long they will last when comparing them to equivalents of each other.

The specs I am looking at is between an i5 and i7 and between 8 and 16 Gb ram with reasonable graphics with a budget of around $900

I am from South Africa, I am planning to do light bioinformatics work on it such as sequence analysis and so on. I am not that worried about the size of the laptop but a 15' could work.

I am looking vivobooks 15X542UN or S15 models on the Asus side, and Ideapad V310 or ideapad 320 for the Lenovo.

The site I am looking from by buying is Evetech and the price range is R10000-13000 (around $800-950)

The models above are mediocre. Could you give me all 8250U laptops that are in your budget? (All brands)

Looks like Ideapad 520 is the best option among all options above, however the build quality is just barely passable, it has mediocre battery life and OKish cooling.
