Xfinity ruined my computer

Hyra

So one time, I accidentally paused my computer through Xfinity's Xfi control panel. Now, both ubuntu and windows can't seem to connect certain applications to the internet, like OBS, steam, and Discord's Voice Chat. Ubuntu can't find packages through the terminal, but both OS's can access the internet perfectly fine through Firefox and Chrome. I've managed to temporarily fix the issue using a VPN, but I don't need one and don't want to pay for one. Does anyone have any solutions other than switching internet providers?

You can buy your own modem that that should solve the issue. LOL. Call Comcast, they have remote access and hopefully can fix something. If not you can try a reset, not a reboot, but resetting the gateway to factory might fix it. Assuming that will clear what ever settings that are screwed. I haven't used a Comcast gateway in like 5 years, so Im not well versed on how the Xfi control works.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

I assume you tried to unpause the profile you setup?

If all else fails you could try resetting your router to factory defaults.

Wait what? You can run shell commands on a machine through your router?

No the whole Xfi system from Comcast gives you per device control. So you can turn off select machines internet. My guess its some kind of Mac address filtering type of thing. But who knows.

I did unpause it, and a factory reset did nothing. I'm still having the same issue.
