Hello reader,

I'm planning to buy a new keyboard for my "setup" but I don't have a lot of experience with keyboards.

That's why I want to ask this: What is a good keyboard to buy with the following things:

  • Rgb (Fully customizable)
  • Wireless or wired are both fine.
  • Mechanical isn't a must.
  • Max price $50 (A less expensive one would be very nice)
  • Not a must but some macro keys would be very nice.

Thanks for the answers and have a great day,

Luuk Bos

I'm sorry for grammar or spelling mistakes, English is not my first language

Corsair k55 is a good option. Its not mechanical but its got fully customisable RGB which can be accessed via the corsair iCUE software.

PC SPECS: i7 - 3820, 32GB GSkill DDR3 RAM, 2TB Seagate Hybrid Drive, Intel 240GB SSD, Corsair Spec Omega Case, Strix GTX 1060 6GB, Corsair H150i Pro RGB, Corsair CX850M PSU

Wireless keyboard and RGB together isn't something that you will find I'm afraid. I would suggest looking at this.

Well I've seen some but the battery will probably drain very fast. Thanks for the response I will watch the video.

Ive been using this forawhile!
And it works fine :)

The only downside is the ugly text font they use.

Most lower brands use the ugly "gamer" font.

I honestly don't get the need for a nice keyboard. Paid 10 dollars for mine at best buy and never have bothered to upgrade it even after spending an excessive amount of money on the rest of my setup.

To be honest, I do like to have a decent and nice keyboard. Obviously, I wouldn't spend $ 200 plus on it though :)

Went to the store multiple times and tried the keyboards and didn't like them much more than my current one so it didn't worth the money. I mean if it was more than just the feel then I could see myself getting one but there really isn't much point.

True. If you yourself don't "feel" a difference with more expensive boards, then there is no reason to pay the additional money.

Yeah it's kinda like when people get made at me for preferring a 10 dollar cheese burger over a 40 dollar steak. Just because something is more expensive doesn't mean I will like it better.

Price doesn't say a darn thing about quality and about your own preferences.

This is the problem, I own the keyboard I have now for over 10 years so I don't really have preferences since I never used something else.

You could go to a computer store and try some keybourds.

That way you have an idea what "kind" of keyboard you actually like.

Hmm that's actually a great idea!

There are many mechanical keyboard switches out there. You’ve probably heard of Cherry MX switches, it’s by far the most popular line of switches. Cherry MX (and many other manufacturers) identify their different type of switches by color. Red, brown, blue and black are the most common Cherry MX switches, but there is also  Green, clear, light gray, dark gray and more. The experience of using one type is completely different from another type.

If you only have experience with a $ 10 keyboard and you don't really know what you are actually looking for in a keyboard, then I would suggest going to a store near you and try som out for yourself. :)
