Been having some network issues for a bit and was curious to see if anyone has any idea on how we could fix it or why its happening. At my place we have 5 computers connected to the network (all wireless) and one of them has been having problems with crashes but the main problem is when that computer crashes it's causing the network to kind of temporarily drop or stutter. It doesn't disconnect us from the modem or anything but just disconnects everyone from the internet for 30 seconds or so, and it working again after a bit has nothing to do with his computer turning back on, we can leave it off after it crashes and it will still come up after roughly the same amount of time. The modem doesn't show any signs of anything going on and the signal bars on each computer don't actually change or anything, just can't use the internet for a bit.

The most obvious solution would be to stop the crashes but the dude is being stingy and has some other priorities at the moment so I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced something similar or any idea on how to fix it.

We've used two different modems (the billion 7800N and currently the asus dsl-n55u) both through multiple ports around the house and doesn't seem to change anything, can't think of much else to try apart from speaking to our ISP but I doubt it has anything to do with them.

In all honesty its not that big a deal, frustrating and I would prefer to not have to deal with it but its not the end of the world at the moment at least.

Any input would be good,

Thanks in advance.

The wireless card causing problems was an initial thought, and his card is pretty average and verging on 5-6 years old so could do with replacing, but we've experienced similar things when my occasionally computer crashes (been having graphics card heat problems for a bit) which made me think otherwise, I'll see if I can convince him to grab a new wireless card and see if it fixes it though.

As for just using a wired connection, I would much prefer it if everything was wired, and I agree its better, but the house were in at the moment has like 2 places in the whole house we can set the modem up, neither of which are really even viable for running cables to all the computers.
