Hi! I'm going to buy a graphics card for a PC that has a 180W power supply. I'm just wondering if a graphics card will work in there. I want to buy a GT610 2gb. Yes i know, don't judge me. It should use around 30 watts max. I don't know if it's even going to boot up or crash or something like that when i put the card in there. Please let me know! Thanks in advance.

Here are my PC specs. (pretty old...) Yes I still want to upgrade it ;)

I've got a  Lenovo Thinkcentre E73-10AU (SFF)

CPU; Intel Pentium G3220 3GHZ

Motherboard; Intel H81 Express Chipset for ThinkCentre E73 - 3X3 PCI/PCIe SFF

GPU; I'm using the IGPU

RAM; 1x4GB DDR3 (UDIMMS 1.5V)

PSU; 180 watts (active PFC, 70% PSU)

If you want/need extra info please let me know :).

I just looked up the PC, and the results I'm getting show a huge plastic shroud for the CPU cooler which impedes on any access to the PCI-e slot. I'm not sure if you can take that off. Assuming you can though, you could absolutely fit a low-profile card in there.

Why not consider a GT 710, it's low-profile, consumes 19W of power and is a generation above the GT 610 you're after. I used a GT 710 in my old Clarkdale system so in theory it should run in your PC just fine.

Ok thanks for looking into it. And yes the shroud is removable. Thanks again :D

Being totally honest, you're not going to be able to do much with a 710 but a GDDR5 1030 is only 30W and it would eat the 710 for breakfast in everything. If you don't want to spend as much, look for the 1Gb GDDR5 GT 730 second hand which would still munch a 710 like chewing gum (warning make sure you get GDDR5 version not DDR3 version)

Good luck with your SFF build and have a nice day:)

Have a nice day:)
